Fourth of eight Southern Oral History Program interviews with sociologist Olive M. Stone (1897-1977), recorded August 13, 1975 by Sherna Gluck and running about two hours. Stone discusses her years as dean at Montgomery's Huntingdon College in Alabama from 1929 to 1934 and her doctoral work at UNC Chapel Hill from 1934 to 1936. She also discusses the civil rights of agricultural laborers, Southern race relations and social movements. Electronic edition issued 2007 by the UNC Library through Documenting the American South.

Subjects include her teaching at the University of California, Los Angeles and the Institute for Research in Social Science at Chapel Hill, along with Southern civil rights work: the Fellowship of Reconciliation, the American Friends Service Committee and the Delta Cooperative Farm in Mississippi.
