Family and business letters of Thomas Whitmel Harriss, a tobacco planter at Littleton in Halifax County, 303 items from 1795, with letters to relatives in Tennessee and Mississippi and his son Thomas's letters of 1870 to 1891. Accounts give prices for cotton, tobacco and small goods, and other letters concern the University of North Carolina, Randolph-Macon College and temperance.
