Written in 1940, the memoirs of George Willcox McIver, 1858 to 1947, fill two volumes and 480 pages in the Southern Historical Collection at UNC, collection 1674. The memoirs trace a North Carolina childhood, schooling at the Bingham School in Orange County and at Davidson College, cadet years at the United States Military Academy, and army service through the Spanish American War and the First World War.
