Fourteen reels of microfilm reproducing the papers of Howard A. Kester (1904-1977) from 1923 to 1972, filmed from the manuscript collection in the Southern Historical Collection at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Microfilming Corporation of America issued the positive set in 1973 with a printed guide, and an index to the manuscripts accompanies it.

Organizational records of the Fellowship of Southern Churchmen, 1937 to 1986, roughly 13,000 items in twelve linear feet, collection 3479 in the Southern Historical Collection at UNC. The records concern churches, social problems and race relations in the South, including material relating to Howard Kester, Nelle Morton, Charles Miles Jones and David S. Burgess. Black Mountain and Chapel Hill both appear as places. A preservation microfilm was made in 1985.

The papers concern the University of Tennessee at Memphis and southern farm politics: the Southern Tenant Farmers' Union, the Delta Cooperative Farm and Providence Plantation in Mississippi, the Socialist Party, and figures such as Norman Thomas, Howard Kester and Pauli Murray. Part of the Southern Historical Collection at UNC, collection 3862.
