Samuel Hoey Walkup takes up the old dispute over where Andrew Jackson was born, a question North and South Carolina have both claimed. Detached from the North Carolina University Magazine of 1891 and published at Chapel Hill by the students of the university, the piece concerns Jackson's birthplace.
History file of the state's tuberculosis hospitals, 1907 to 1980, from the Tuberculosis Control Branch. It has minutes of the North Carolina Sanatorium System board (1923 to 1972) and its successor, the Specialty Hospitals System (1972 to 1980), with 1931 appropriations hearings and financial reports. McCain, Black Mountain, Wilson and Gravely Hospital in Chapel Hill are among the institutions.

Published in 1958 as volume 40 of the James Sprunt Studies in History and Political Science, William S. Hoffmann's study concerns Andrew Jackson's place in the politics of North Carolina. The University of North Carolina Press issued it in 134 pages with a bibliography and an index.
Speeches and papers from the dedication on October 19, 1948, of the monument on the State Capitol grounds in Raleigh to Andrew Jackson, James K. Polk and Andrew Johnson, the three presidents North Carolina claims as native sons. President Harry S. Truman gave the main address, and Charles Keck sculpted the figures. Contributors include Josephus Daniels and Willis Smith. Printed in Raleigh in 1949 for the state memorial commission, 61 pages with portraits.
