Account books kept by the merchant John Hogg (1765-1826), running from 1795 to 1815 with a further volume for 1841, in the Southern Historical Collection at UNC, collection 342. The papers document nineteenth century commerce at Hillsborough, Fayetteville, Raleigh and Wilmington, and include the firms Hogg and Company of Wilmington and Hogg and Meng of Fayetteville, along with the names Robert Adam, Andrew Adie and Robert Halliday.

Business records of John Hogg's firms, general and commission merchants, 1767 to 1812: a letterbook, daybooks and cash books. His partnerships included Adie and Hogg of Chapel Hill and Hillsborough, Hogg and Adam of Hillsborough, Hogg and Meng of Fayetteville, and Huske and Hogg and Hogg and Campbell of Wilmington, and he also traded alone in Hillsborough, Raleigh and Wilmington.
