A biographical sketch of William Little, the colonial judge who died in 1734, together with an account of the descendants who carried his name. Marshall De Lancey Haywood signed it at the end. The students of the University printed it at Chapel Hill in 1895 from the April number of the North Carolina University Magazine.

Marshall De Lancey Haywood's sketch of Christopher Gale, chief justice of North Carolina in the proprietary period, who died in 1735. It was detached from the February 1893 North Carolina University Magazine and printed at Chapel Hill by the Dialectic and Philanthropic Societies.

Marshall De Lancey Haywood's address on Colonel Edward Buncombe of the Fifth North Carolina Continental Regiment, given to the North Carolina Society of the Cincinnati at Hillsborough on 4 July 1901 and published by the Society in Raleigh that year. It covers Buncombe's life, his army career and his death as a wounded prisoner in Philadelphia during the Revolution.
