About 153 oral history interviews on audiocassette, recorded between 1973 and 1978 and in 1992 by the Duke University Oral History Program, which Lawrence Goodwyn and William Chafe led from 1972. Most deal with civil rights struggles in Durham, Chapel Hill and Greensboro, and the program set out to record witnesses, often African American, who had seldom been heard. 810 items in all.
