Joint papers of Charles Wesley Bain, 1864 to 1915, a college teacher at the University of North Carolina, and Isabel Plummer Bain, 1868 to 1964, dating from about the 1900s to the 1960s. One hundred items in half a linear foot, collection 1327 in the Southern Historical Collection at UNC. The papers include material on the Civil War in North Carolina and the social conditions of women.

Elizabeth Tannahill Bain (1893-1967?) assembled about 250 photographs dating from roughly 1890 to 1933, a quarter of a linear foot in the North Carolina Collection at UNC. Subjects include the Old Well and Coker Arboretum, university buildings and employees, family social life, and the First World War as it touched Chapel Hill.
