Friends of the Orange County Public Library

Announcing the Friends of the North Carolina Public Libraries (FONCPL) Central Region Spring Workshop, Saturday, March 26, 2016, 10 am-Noon, Chapel Hill Public Library, 100 Library Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.

We are pleased to announce this FREE workshop which will gather together Friends from our neighboring libraries in the Central Region.

Our program will be a panel discussion on the Reinvention of Friends:  What to do when your library changes.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Advocacy on the local and state level
  • Reorganizing your board and the responsibilities of board members
  • Doing the same old thing in new and better ways
  • Recruiting and treating volunteers
  • Working with Library staff

For those who are interested in the NCAA tournament – we promise that if local teams are playing that day we will do all we can to finish in time for tip-off.   The panel will consist of an intro, brief presentations on each topic by FCHPL board members and a Q&A from the floor. You may also submit your questions via email.

Please share this workshop information with other Friends and anyone interested in supporting their library.  You will receive an email confirmation of registration.

The meeting will be held at the Chapel Hill Public Library at 100 Library Drive in Chapel Hill.
