Friends of the Orange County Public Library

Dear Friends,

Happy spring! Celebrate the arrival of the season by attending our used book sale!

Book Sale

The book sale will be open from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22.

Don’t miss Bag Day from noon to 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 23, when you can get all the books you can fit in a bag for just $7 for one bag or $10 for two bags. Bring your own large bag to make the most of the Bag Day special pricing!

And don’t forget that Friends members get a special pre-sale on Thursday, March 20 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Take advantage of this members-only benefit and get the best selection of books! Membership not current? No problem! You can renew your membership at the door.

All children and teachers get THREE FREE BOOKS at any time during the sale! Woo-hoo! Teachers are also welcome to come during the last hour of the sale on Sunday  (3:00-4:00) and may take as many free books as they would like at that time.

Friends Shirts

Look as snazzy as Jane Austen and show your support for the Friends by wearing a fabulous Friends T-shirt! A portion of each sale is donated to the Friends. Check them out at: FRIENDS SHIRTS

Get Involved! Board Members And Book Sorters Needed

Have a little spare time and energy? We can use you!

BOOK SORTERS – Volunteers are needed to sort through and organize books that are donated for our used book sales. This is an easy task that can be done on YOUR schedule! If you’re interested in helping with book sorting, contact Book Sale Chairperson Diane Decker

BOARD OF DIRECTORS – We currently have ten directors, but our bylaws allow for as many as 15. We would love to see five new faces at the board table! The time commitment is minimal. The board meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 in the library’s meeting room. Meetings generally last less than an hour. Board members are also asked to work a shift or two at the twice-annual book sales. That’s it! Easy-peasy. If you would like more information or are interested in joining the board, please send an email to FOCPLNC@gmail.com

National Library Week

April 6-12 marks National Library Week. The theme this year is “Drawn to the Library.”

Tuesday, April 8 is National Library Workers Day. If you happen to be in the library that day, be sure to let the staff know how much you appreciate all they do for our community!

For more details, visit: NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK INFO

Next Meeting

The next board meeting will be Thursday, March 20 at 7:00 pm. Because the book sale will be set up in the meeting room, we will meet upstairs this month. All members are welcome to attend. The agenda appears below.

As always, thank you for being a Friend!

Sincerely,

Diane Kelly, President
