FOCPL December Newsletter – Join Us Dec. 14th for the Annual Meeting & Social

December 1, 2023

Friends of the Orange County Public Library

Dear Friends,

Lots of great stuff is happening at our library!

Nonperishable Food Drive

‘Tis the season of giving! The library will be collecting nonperishable food items on Sunday, December 3rd from noon to 6:00. This is a great chance to fight hunger in our community. Drop off an item or two on your way to the annual holiday parade!

Meeting Updates

At our November meeting, we voted to fund five new Kindles for the library and to fund the cost of the Speakers Consortium so that the library can continue to offer virtual author visits. We also made plans for the upcoming Annual Meeting and Social, which will be held on Thursday, December 14th at 7:00 in the library’s meeting room. Please join us! The agenda appears below.

At the upcoming meeting, William and Cora McLean will discuss the Cora Grace Collection of Picture Book Art, which has been on display in the children’s area of the library. In celebration of this special exhibit, funds are being collected to purchase furniture for neurodivergent youth. It’s not too late to donate! If you’d like to support this great cause, you can do so here: https://focplnc.org/donate/

If you prefer, you can mail a check to the Friends in care of the library at 137 W. Margaret Lane, Hillsborough, NC 27278. Thanks!
