Real-Life Ghost Stories
Friday, October 26, 7 p.m. on the lawn of the Burwell School in Hillsborough
This is a continuation of our popular event from last year and will get you in a Halloween mood. Fun for kids! Bring a chair or blanket to sit on.
Fall Book Sale
We’re adding an extra day to the book sale!
Friends members only preview: Wednesday, November 7, 4-7:30 p.m.
Public book sale: Thursday, November 8, to Sunday, November 11, open 1/2 hour after library opening, close 1/2 hour before library closing
We need volunteers to work the book sale! Look for a signup sheet to be posted soon or email focplnc@gmail.com if you’re interested.
NEW: Local Author Book Fair
Saturday, November 24, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
This is a brand-new and very exciting event! Twenty-plus local authors will be on hand all day to do readings and sign books. “Shop Small Saturday” and stock up on books from local authors and Purple Crow Books for Christmas gifts.
Special author guests include:
- North Carolina Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green — keynote reading at 10 a.m. upstairs in the main branch of the library
- Lee Smith
- Alan Gurganis
- A. J. Mayhew
- John Claude Bemis
- AND many more!
We need volunteers for this special event! Volunteers are needed to organize and plan this event, publicize the event, help set up and break down, introduce author readings, assist authors with readings and signings, assist Purple Crow Books with sales, recruit Friends members, and more. This is a great opportunity to meet local authors and help the Friends. If you can volunteer or if you have questions, please email focplnc@gmail.com.
Annual Meeting
Saturday, December 1, 10 a.m., Meeting Room of the Orange County Public Library
This will be a business meeting. We will review the year and elect a new Board of Directors. Initial 2019 Board meeting will immediately follow.
