FOCPL Board of Directors Regular Meeting Minutes, by Susan Vreeland; Lori-Anne Shapiro, Chair, Presiding ~ September 14, 2016 ~ Meeting Room, Orange County Public Library, Hillsborough Present: Susan Vreeland, Stacey Gamble, Lori-Anne Shapiro, Harry Kavros, Dee Love Absent: Julie McManus, Dan Godfrey, Robin Crawford Ex Officio: Andrea Tullos and Lucinda Munger Call to order: 6:00 p.m. by Lori-Anne Shapiro August Minutes Review: Lori moved to approve August 10, 2016 minutes; seconded; passed unanimously ▪ Committee Reports: ▪ Publicity Committee - tabled until next meeting ▪ Membership Committee - tabled until next meeting ▪ Book Sales Committee 1. On-going Book Sale status of safe and box - Box completed by Dan Godfrey. Location to be determined. Need to develop instructions and steps for patrons to follow B. Semi-Annual Sale - need volunteers, especially for the 3:00 p.m. - closing shift. Susan will put out an additional call for volunteers. Board members required to work a shift. ▪ Board Vacancies: Nominations Committee -Harry suggested tapping into the Executive Service Corp - database of potential candidates for Boards. Harry will follow up. Lori will compose a message for Libby to place in library newsletter, also place a flyer in the Purple Crow, Flyleaf Books. Susan will send a request to the members at large. ▪ Finance Committee - tabled until next meeting ▪ Staff Appreciation: Dee Love reported that the event is scheduled for September 29, 2016 ▪ Follow up to visits with other Friends groups Appreciation Event for other Friends Boards: scheduled for October 27, 2016. Lori is coordinating. ▪ Annual Meeting: December 3, 2016. Lori reported that a committee is needed. Need speakers. Lori will reach out to Mayor Tom Stevens and Bart Barker. ▪ Old News: Last Friday: Lori reported another successful month with Jinny Baeckler & Lori Shapiro ▪ Library Up-date - comprehensive library update tabled until next month Motion to go into a closed session at 6:34 p.m. by Harry Kavros, second by Susan Vreeland ▪ Adjourned at 6:38 p.m. Next Meeting: October 12, 2016
