Booksale debrief
- Approximately $2900 profit
- Troubleshooting the square sales
- Auction books: Thursday night bids are settled after friends reception, the rest are settled at the end of the Saturday sale (Stacey will add this to the procedures)
- Sales trajectory may seem downward, but we are selling more in the ongoing sale.
- We need to up our advertising
- Other volunteers could put up signs
- Check out the Pittsboro sale for a successful model
- Strategy: highlighting our offerings ahead of time
- More social media presence
- Scheduling 2019 sales
- Consider last weekend April 20-28 (do book drive on Saturday); October 20-27 (coincide with Last Friday)
- Auction items, signed items
- Idea: connect to estate sale groups
NC Friends Meeting debrief: James attended.
- Annual cash awards available from state organization (Andrea recommends we tout our programmatic stuff: music and authors)
- Asheboro partnered with tourism board, which gave them 20K for a lecture series: accompanied with a private dinner for higher donors, etc. (Burwell school did well with Lee Smith, etc. at LeLand’s auction house-public event, and private more intimate event)
- Some discussion of lobbying the legistlature
- Burlington makes 30K; they sell nice tote bags for the bag day. 100 or so for $4ish each. ($10 bag that they are allowed to fill)
- Some friends groups are playing with Patreon.
- Pittsboro: money is to partner with a country club.
