  1. Annex kids book sale in Fairview - Library guest will attend this discussion

Michael and Gail suggested that we hold a kids book sale at the substation at Fairview. They will spearhead planning with Stephanie Knop. Also discussed filling the Little Free Library that United Way already set up in the space.

  1. Role of Friends in Library support and funding

The county contributes and we support what the county does not.

(Paper handout: Working Together: Roles and Responsibilities Guidelines).

Friends covers special programs, but not collections or regular programs. We are careful to keep these separate so as not to open a door for the county to stop paying for some things.

  1. Library update (to include funding questions raised by Board)
  • Waiting on the Town of Carrboro about designing and opening new library.
  • Working on filling two positions and getting back to full staffing.

April booksale, we’ll need more books, so need to promote and maybe have a book drive on Saturday 20 April.
