AGENDA

  1. Call to Order: 7:00 p.m.

Present:

  1. Board of Directors Slate for 2020
    1. vote to add Wendy Scott to the board. unanimously approved.
    2. interest in returning: all but James (weekend commitments for author life). slate is due to membership 30 days in advance of the vote. December 7.
      1. comic book fair
      2. local authors book fair
  2. Library Update and Funding Requests
  3. Training: $5154
    1. James moves to approve training, Gail seconds. Unanimous approval.
  4. Projector and tables: proposal was emailed to the group. Update to our prior approval. $990.80

We’ve given $13,000 this year to support.

Our funds: $37,331 in money market. $7000 (additional funds in the safe awaiting deposit).

income this year $12,283 (not counting what’s in the safe now)

NANCY: Library received $3500 LSTA Health Grant. NC IDEA will provide training and materials for Entrepreneurial Learning Centers Pilot program. ATS (Adult/Teen Services) Supervisor position applicants are being interviewed now.

  1. Membership Update

Setting up online payments

Emails went to membership list for updates (even people with longer lapses). $213 (August), $194 (September) came in. Will send monthly to people about to lapse.

We now have a donate button on our website which can be used to pay memberships or just give donations.

  1. Finance Update

(see above for figures). Gail will take over deposit duties for Treasurer position (Tuesday deposits).

  1. Events Planning: Local Author Book Fair, others

Local Author Book Fair: September 27 and 28. 2019.

Last year: 200-300 estimated guests.

This year is looking bigger (based on Facebook interest)

  • Wednesday: WHUP show with James and Eryk (Yonder Bar).
  • Thursday: 5 event authors reading at Yonder Bar on King Street. (Noir at the Bar). Mystery/Thriller themed. 6:30-8:00.
  • Friday: meeting room at the library 7:00-8:30 mystery and wonder reading, followed by table set up. James will MC.
  • Saturday: bigger names authors will have readings (upstairs in library) on a schedule. James will start it. Shannon will MC. The fair itself will run from 10:00 (set up) 11:00-4:00. (tables in the meeting room)
    • Friends Table: Gail and Michael, Shannon, Cheryl (James’s wife); library will provide info about children’s area renovations.
    • “ushers”: to answer questions and direct people: call for general membership volunteers for this.
    • Refreshments: Gail and Michael will shop and bring.
    • Blog Interviews: Samantha will do this. James will send her the list.

October 19 book drive

Monday October 21st set up: coordinate with library for teen volunteers

October 23 friends only book sale

October 24-27 book sale
