Twice the library was kept open late for a cooling center. More conversations ahead about being

a cooling center, as it seems to be something that is here to stay. Collection development staff member Maureen, 15 kindles available that are 10 years old. The Kindles can be sold as not as many are being checked out since maybe people have them now. Maybe sell for $25. 15 to sell.

Include in newsletter? 5) OLD BUSINESS

A) Story Walk

Meeting with Parks & Rec, Site visits planned

Update on First Visit other Story Walks

Diane K First meeting with Parks and Rec. Placement is an issue. Should it go where lots of people are, or maybe somewhere less busy. Should it be mobile? How much are the rights to the books? They have a bus we can go check other book walks out. Meg said June 23 Bolin Creck flooded. The book installation was safe, but it was something to think about. Nothing is decided, lots to consider.

C) CPA

Update from Tess about sales tax

She has a recommendation from her friend. Ron Gary is a CPA in CH, and she’I] talk to him tomorrow, and loop in Shannon and Diane K.

6) NEW BUSINESS

A) Paid Signup Genius account - $270 per year Grace, Wendy and Shannon talked about trying to manage volunteers. This is an easier way to manage them. Paid subscription removes ads, and helped with email system. Diane K said anything that makes volunteering easier is good. It also helps having more than one person managing the volunteers. Unanimous vote.

B) Library Funding Request — Professional Development Proposal - $3,500 Jody says there is an internal promotion for a current staff member, she’s a good fit personally, but needs more skills. She found training for managing circulation. She put the proposal together. Unanimous vote.

C) A local father and daughter have an art collection of children’s book illustrations they’d be willing to show at the library. In October and November. He collects children’s literature illustration and would maybe like to help out with a fundraiser. 100 paintings, lots of Caldecott winners. Maurice Sendak etc. Would be great to have for the children’s section of the library. The illustrators would promote on their social media, as the father has made friends with them. Wendy wondered if there maybe could be an event for the start of it. Brings people into the library. The collector said September would be great, which is not enough time to plan an event, but Melissa said we could have the event later, it doesn’t have to be right when it starts. Juice and cookies to bring kids in. Maybe October. Tess said a day time event would be better. Diane K said maybe have paper for kids to draw a book cover, or some other activity. Lots of ideas for events. Shannon said maybe we should pick something has a goal for the children’s section. Grace said a specific request might be better. Closing in December? Maybe it can be when we have the December Board meeting. Maybe owner of the objects can give a talk about the pieces.
