- CALL TO ORDER WITH QUARAM at 7:03
Present Board Members: Diane Kelly, Melissa Bourbon, Shannon Turlington, Wendy Scott, Mark Alexander, Grace Johnston, Diane Decker, Marc Miller, Meg Stouffer (Zoom), Tess Tessier, Jody Smith, Nancy Crews
2) APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM LAST MEETING
3) TREASURER’S REPORT BY SHANNON TURLINGTON
- $22,900 in the checking account
- Approximately $10,000 in Money Market account
- FOCPL received a $49.49 refund check for overpayment of sales tax
4) MEMBERSHIP REPORT (Grace Johnson)
- The current membership is 143 active members (added 4 this month)
- $290 collected in gifts
5) LIBRARY REPORT (Jody Smith/Nancy Crews)
- The new outreach position in the library filled; the new hire will begin in January
- A request will be forthcoming from Youth Services
- Prison Tree has collected 50 books so far
- The Knit hat program is going well. It was shared that the community has a food collection for family/pets: December 3rd the parade in town. Drop off for perishable food sponsored by the library.
- It was shared that Nancy interviews folks who fill out the volunteer form on the website (the link to the application is on the website). Volunteers must go through the vetting
- process, but this does not apply to FOCPL volunteers
- A Courier (Director of Dept of Transportation) service to provide library services to homebound members
6) OLD BUSINESS
- NaNoWriMo Write-In was a success. It was requested that we hold this event again next year. (Melissa Bourbon Ramirez)
- Book Sale Signs update: VistaPrint 18x24 = $12/each / 2x3 fabric banners with grommets = $100
- The recommendation is to use Markers and Poster board (Mark Alexander)
- Book Sale: Early Paper Readers to be priced at 4 for $1.00 (Diane Decker)
- 3 people per shift is the ideal number of helpers
- Have board members as backups in case a volunteer doesn’t show up
- Children’s Illustration Donations from the event: Shannon estimates that $500 will be coming in
- Discussion of board positions: Diane Kelly-President / Shannon Turlington-VP / Grace Johnson-Treasure/Membership / Jen Tollivar-Secretary
- The need for a PR position was mentioned
- A suggestion that the bylaws be revised in the spring was made as it hasn’t been done since 2016
- December 14th at 7.00 is the Annual Meeting
- Jen Tolliver will bring pastries
- Diane Kelly will bring cider
- Decaf coffee from Cup of Joe’s
- Meg Stouffer will bring a cheese tray
- Staff Gift- Weaver Street Gift Cards $15/each (21 full-time staff)
7) NEW BUSINESS
- Jody Smith’s program request of $3400 was unanimously approved
- It was approved that the FOCPL will purchase 5 new Kindle readers for the library, approximate cost $675
- William McLaine who spearheaded the children’s illustration showing will speak about it at the annual meeting
