TREASURER’S REPORT
The total bank account balance is $46,361.06. Since the last meeting, we received $345.00 from ongoing book sales.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT
There are 155 currently active members. We received six gifts totaling $540.00.
We have received $2,600.00 for Storywalk from 7 sponsors, including 4 individuals and 3 businesses. All of the business sponsors were new donors, and they have all been emailed to confirm their listing at the site. We will contact them again personally to invite them to the groundbreaking once the date has been determined.
LIBRARY REPORT
Since Parks and Recreations are short staffed at this time, there may be a delay in installing the stations for Storyboard. Jody has an instruction video regarding installation. We may need to turn to an outside provider to do the installation. The library would plan an event to coincide with the kickoff. There’s a covered picnic area at the park, and we may need to reserve it when a date is determined.
The Summer Reading program was a huge success with 657 participants, including 45 teens. The gift baskets were a big hit. The book donations from Carrboro are still being sorted. Book sales in the front of the library will continue.
OLD BUSINESS
Mark Miller is moving and will be leaving the Board.
The Board approved an expenditure of $852.00 to Business Insurance of the Carolinas LLC for insurance policy renewal.
The Board approved funding requests for the library’s Youth Services and Teen Summer Reading Programs in a total amount of $5,370.00.
Diane Kelly proposed an event for National Novel Writers Month with a write-in to take place in the morning followed by an afternoon workshop and readings by a panel of authors from the North Carolina chapter of Horror Writers of America. The likely date is the second Saturday in November.
BOOK SALE DISCUSSION
The number of donated. Books is really low compared to past events. We need to be very proactive about getting more donations. Ideas included posting on Nextdoor, putting a sign up at the front of the library, and putting an announcement in the Newsletter.
A couple of individuals have contacted us with offers of multiple donation boxes. Tess and others offered to go with Diane Decker to pick them up and sort through them.
There may be an issue with Community Works closing down. We need to check into it.
The Board will not meet in July.
Meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm
