- TREASURER'S REPORT
Total bank balance is $42,519.95, down $424.93 since our last meeting. Cash in is $605.00 in donations and memberships, $223.50 from the ongoing book sale, and $60.87 in interest. Cash out is $840.00 for staff appreciation (holiday gift cards), $408.24 for quarterly sales tax payment, $59.18 for volunteer appreciation (shirts), and $6.88 in processing fees.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT
We have 152 active members. Since last meeting, we received six gifts totaling $465.
LIBRARY REPORT (Nancy Crews)
Adult Services:
Playaway Launchpads for Teens & Adults will be launched in December. They will include brain boosting and cognitive games as well as a Spanish language learning program.
December 7 from 2:30 to 4:30--Film Screening of Charlie Chaplin’s City Lights followed by a discussion with Francesca Talenti, artist, director and professor emerita at UNC.
Mondays and Wednesdays 3:00-5:00 pm – patrons may talk with Andrew, Digital Navigator, about their technology.
Youth Services:
December 6 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm—Winter Festival
- Read to a Therapy Dog (9–11 am) – Curl up with a good book and a friendly pup.
- Make an Ornament – Create a keepsake to add sparkle to your holiday décor.
- Decorate Our Gingerbread Mural – Add your paper candy creations to our sweet library display.
- Write Letters to Local Seniors – Share kindness and brighten someone’s day.
- Enjoy “A Christmas Carol” – Watch a live performance by Shepherd Shakespeare at 10:30 a.m.
- Take-Home Solstice Lantern Craft – Pick up a special DIY kit to light up the longest night
The Southern Branch will be hosting a Board Game Bazaar on Saturday December 29 (all day during operating hours) and a Family Drop-In Craft Time on December 5 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Business
The mockup bag for the book sale bag day was approved. The price quote is $3.15 each. We could sell the bag for $3.00 each.
Elections will be held in at the December meeting.
Books for the prison giving tree are on order.
The 2026 Summer reading kickoff is May 30 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
$35 was approved to renew our State Friends group membership.
