LIBRARY REPORT

Tuesday, April 21, 5:30 – 7:30 pm - Earth Conscious Poetry Workshop with Amal Kassir This workshop launches a new community writing series, inviting all residents of Hillsborough—writers

and

non-writers

alike—to

tell

their

stories

through

poetry.

Through

simple

prompts

and

guided

reflection,

participants

will

craft

heartfelt

pieces

about

land,

home,

memory,

and

belonging

in

a

time

of

rapidly

changing

climate.

Tuesday & Thursday, April 21 – May 28, 9:30 – 11:00 am – Beginning-level English Class Beginning-level English class for adult speakers of other languages. Students will practice

listening,

speaking,

reading,

and

writing

in

an

interactive

group

environment.

Saturday, May 09, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm – Garden Party at the Library Stop by the meeting room with a plant to rehome or to choose a new plant. While you're

here,

have

a

mock

mimosa,

make

an

easy

clay

garden

marker

or

bird

feeder,

take

a

mini

tour

of

the

Learning

Garden,

and

learn

about

our

new

Green

Literacy

Program. Southern Branch Friday, May 01, All Day, Drop In and Lock In Study Space During UNC final exam reading days, the Southern Branch will open up additional study space

for

students

to

drop

in

and

lock

in

on

their

prep,

with

goal-setting

worksheets

and

relaxing

break

activities

provided. BUSINESS $131.69 was approved for website hosting and domain renewal. $750.00 was approved to help North Carolina Public Library Directors Association fund their

lobbying

budget. Southern Branch is interested in installing a book return drop box at the nearby parking structure;

we

approved

up

to

$6,000

and

suggested

a

Friends

logo

on

it. Friends at Southern Branch still has one member, and we need to communicate with her. We need to come up with something better than Signup Genius for volunteers. Meeting adjourned 7:49 Book sale If we reserve the room a day earlier for the next book sale, we could get teenagers to move

the

boxes

from

the

Friends
