Help Us Reach 450 Memberships & Donors

Since 1981, members and donors have helped the Friends fund library programs, equipment, outreach, and other needs beyond the public budget. For our 45th anniversary, we’re working toward 450 active memberships and community donors.

245 counted toward our goal  ·  205 to go Goal: 450  ·  54%

The total includes 201 active member households and 44 community donors. Each membership or donor is counted once. A community donor is someone who has made a gift but does not currently have an active membership.

Since 1981, neighbors have supported the Orange County Public Library through the Friends. They have raised money, staffed book sales and events, volunteered their time, and spoken up when the library needed public support.

To mark our 45th anniversary, we have set a goal of 450 active memberships and community donors. Reaching it would give the Friends more dependable support for library programs and projects, and a larger community ready to advocate for the library.

Membership starts at $25 a year, and a gift of any size counts toward the goal. Join for the first time, renew an existing membership, make a donation, or invite another library supporter to take part.

Every membership includes early access to the Friends’ semiannual book sales, a place at Friends meetings, and a connection to other library supporters. Membership dues help fund library programs, equipment, staff training, and other needs. See everything membership includes. Prefer not to join? A gift of any size counts toward the campaign, and you would be counted as a community donor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does renewing count toward the goal?

Yes. The campaign counts active memberships, so renewing keeps your individual or household membership in the total.

Do donations count toward the goal?

Yes. Someone who makes a gift without an active membership is counted once as a community donor. Additional gifts from the same donor do not increase the count.

What does a family membership cover?

A family membership covers everyone in one household and counts as one membership toward the campaign goal.

Does a lifetime membership expire?

A lifetime membership does not require annual renewal.

Will my name appear publicly?

Only with your permission. You can choose to be recognized on our members and donors page or ask not to be listed.

Are membership dues and donations tax-deductible?

They may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Consult your tax adviser about your circumstances.
