The Friends of the Orange County Public Library has been working to support the Orange County Public Library since 2010. Below is a list of items, library programs, and other things provided by FOCPL grants:
- 2010
- $20,000 upon opening on Jan 8, 2010. Furnishings, including the teen room items, the entrance gates, towards some of the furnishings in Youth Services.
- 2011
- $2500 – attendance at conference for 3 people
- $12,000 – Wooden endcaps to make shelving secure. The shelving only had one wooden endcap during the first year, the additional second side secured shelving.
- 2012
- $1500 – attendance at conference for staff members (2)
- 2013
- $11,000 – self check purchased for upstairs near the bank of public computers.
- 2014
- $1,000 – Summer Reading Kick off support
- $8,000 – Shelving project at the top of the steps – added user friendly browsing for new books, the new open feel and smaller display shelves, and the project to lower the shelves to be more inviting. Total project cost was $23,000 and Friends support at $8,000
- 2015
- $3500 – PLA Minneapolis
- $1000 – Summer Reading Kick off support
- 2016
- $6,000 – Books on Break Project – New Hope Elementary
- $1,750 – Summer Reading Kick Off
- $12,550 – Literacy Outreach Grant cash match for Partnership for Young Children Grant
- $3,800 – Grant Match for LSTA Grants (Planning and Assistive Technology Grant) through State Library of NC
- $3,000 – Support for 4 employees to attend two Trainings – Denver and Washington DC
- 2017
- $1,600 to continue supporting Books on Break at New Hope Elementary
- $3,900 for Summer Reading Kick-off and summer programs
- $1,700 for Summer Reading T-shirts for Library staff and Friends members
